Pattern Instructions (Medium size, other sizes in parentheses)

Sole (worked in an oval)

Rnd 1: Ch 14 (12, 14, 16, 18). Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across to the last ch. 3 sc in last ch. Working along the opposite side of the chain, sc in each ch across. 3 sc in last ch. Sl st to join. (28 [24, 28, 32, 36])

Rnd 2: Ch 1. Sc in each st across the side. 2 sc in each of the next 3 sts (toe end). Sc in each st across the other side. 2 sc in each of the next 3 sts (heel end). Sl st to join. (34)

Rnds 3–4: Continue increasing at both ends until the sole measures the correct length for your size.

Sides

Rnd 5: Ch 1. Working in the back loops only, sc in each st around. Sl st to join. (This creates a ridge that defines the bottom edge of the slipper.)

Rnds 6–8: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. Sl st to join.

Toe Shaping

Rnd 9: Sc in each st along the heel and sides. At the toe end, [sc2tog] x 6 (8, 8, 10) across the center toe stitches. Sc in remaining sts. Sl st to join.

Rnd 10: Repeat Rnd 9, decreasing across the toe stitches again.

Rnd 11: Sc in each st around. Sl st to join.

Cuff

Rnds 12–15: Ch 1. Hdc in each st around. Sl st to join.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Non-Slip Soles

Apply dots or lines of puffy fabric paint to the bottom of the slippers and allow to dry completely (usually 24 hours). This adds traction on hardwood and tile floors.

Tips

Use two strands of worsted weight yarn held together if you don’t have bulky yarn on hand. Add a folded cuff at the top for a boot-style look, or add a button embellishment for extra charm.
