  • Fabric stiffener or liquid starch (optional)

Pattern Instructions

Open Lace Section

Rnd 7: *Ch 7, sc between the next 2 petals.* Repeat * to * around. (6 ch-7 arches)

Rnd 8: Sl st to center of first arch. *Ch 3, 4 dc in same arch, ch 5, 5 dc in next arch, ch 2.* Repeat * to * around. Sl st to join.

Rnds 9–15: Continue expanding the lace pattern, increasing the number of chain spaces and fan motifs on each round. Work fan stitches (7 dc) in the center of each ch-5 arch, separated by ch-3 arches, adding one additional fan per section every 2 rounds.

Picot Edging

Final Rnd: *Sc in next st, picot, sc in next 2 sts.* Repeat * to * around the entire outer edge. Sl st to join. Fasten off.

Blocking

Soak the finished doily in water (or a starch solution for stiffness). Pin it out to size on a blocking board, making sure all the points and scallops are evenly spaced. Allow to dry completely before removing the pins.

Tips

Thread crochet can be challenging if you’re used to working with yarn. Use a well-lit workspace and take breaks to avoid eye strain. Stitch markers are essential for keeping track of your rounds in the lace sections.
