Pattern Instructions (Newborn size, with larger sizes in parentheses)

Rnd 1: MR. Ch 3 (counts as dc), 11 dc in ring. Sl st to join. (12)

Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same st. 2 dc in each st around. Sl st to join. (24)

Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in same st. *Dc in next st, 2 dc in next st.* Repeat around. Sl st to join. (36)

Rnd 4 (3–6mo and 6–12mo only): Ch 3, dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st. *Dc in next 3 (2) sts, 2 dc in next st.* Repeat around. Sl st to join. (45, 48)

Textured Sides

Rnd 5 (all sizes): Ch 2. *Fpdc around next st, bpdc around next st.* Repeat * to * around. Sl st to join.

Rnds 6–12 (14, 16): Repeat Rnd 5, keeping the fpdc/bpdc pattern aligned (fpdc over fpdc, bpdc over bpdc).

Brim

Rnds 13–15 (15–17, 17–19): Ch 1, sc in each st around. Sl st to join.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Finishing

Add an optional pom-pom to the top for extra cuteness. Make sure all yarn tails are woven in securely since this is for a baby.
